The Zmed Brothers

If The Everly Brothers, The Smothers Brothers, Ween, and Tenacious D all had a two headed baby it would be The Zmed Brothers.

The Zmed Brothers, Dylan and Zachary, are a mandolin and guitar playing, close harmony singing, brother duo that plays both covers and originals. They echo the traditional sensibilities of acts like Simon and Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers while bringing in their own sense of modern aesthetic.

The Bird Dogs, one of their current projects, bring a genuine and youthful Everly Brothers experience to the stage. The Zmed Brothers celebrate the genetic intimacy so ever present in the harmonies created by Don and Phil. When the guitar became electric, the Everly Brothers bridged the gap between Country and Rock n Roll. With countless hits and classics, the Everly Brothers inspired bands like The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, The Kinks, Buddy Holly, and many groups that utilize the blend of two part harmony. Their career spanned three decades and continue to influence artists around the world.

The Zmed Brothers are also know for the earlier project The Janks, an LA local blues/folk/rock band.

Tom Freund

“Tom Freund is indeed one of the great singer- songwriters. He constructs a unique world, defines it, and then burns it to the ground. Truly unique and absolutely brilliant.” –All Music Guide

It’s the ease with which he delivers conversational lyrics and honeyed melodies, a natural magic that is the soul of Tom Freund’s music. Though he’s widely-traveled in a variety of genres– from heartfelt folk to buoyant pop to boho jazz to straightforward rock ’n’ roll, and beyond –Freund is, simply put, a singer-songwriter with a defined and captivating presence.

Freund spent the mid-90s touring with the indie rock cult faves THE SILOS and has been releasing solo albums since 1998. Tom has through his career played with the likes of British pub-rock great Graham Parker, pop star Mandy Moore, groove-soul sensation Brett Dennen, Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Famer Jackson Browne, and three-time Grammy winner Ben Harper.

Freund’s latest disc “Two Moons” on Surf Road Records draws roots sources for an urbane Americana sound, melding nostalgia with a raw and sharp-eyed views of life today. Freund also has recently been involved in the film world and you can spot him playing with Parker in the Judd Apatow film, “This Is 40” and featured on the hit TV show “Parenthood” and the upcoming Louis C.K. and Pamela Adlon show “Better Things”.
