There’s nothing like the lapping sounds of ocean waves, the smell of salty breezes, the cry of seagulls.

And, there’s nothing like the Venice Beach Boardwalk. Operated by the Department of Recreation and Parks of the City of Los Angeles, the boardwalk stretches over two miles along sandy beach, and is visited by 28,000 to 30,000 people a day.

But, that’s not the half of it. The Venice Beach Boardwalk is a place where free spirits thrive, artists commingle and creativity is sparked.

Street performers, skateboarders, tattoo artists and musicians galore populate the boardwalk day and most of the night. This weekend, Venice Beach meets Taos at the second annual Field Trippin’ Fest that brings musicians and artists from both communities together. It all happens Saturday (Sept. 1) from 2 to 11 p.m. at the Taos Mesa Brewing Mothership, 20 ABC Mesa Road, off U.S. 64 west.
