César Mateus has been teaching, and performing, recording, and composing for over 25 years. His teaching specialties are Rock, Blues, Classical, Flamenco, and Jazz guitar, and composition and theory.
He has recently performed on the “Smallville” and “Charlie’s Angels” television series, and also performs in France and Montréal, Québec. He composes orchestral music, Jazz, and has recently released a Latin Jazz CD “Of Red and White” with Brent Fischer, Frank Petrilli, Robert Fernandez and an all star line-up of renown musicians.
He currently holds a weekly residence at Lucy’s 51 in Toluca Lake California where he leads the César Mateus Latin Jazz Group.
The César Mateus Latin Jazz Group was founded in winter 2005 by César Andrés Mateus and Brad Rabuchin. The group’s core membership includes Brent Fischer, Enzo Todesco, Evren Edler, Dick Weller, Frank Petrilli,and Robert Fernandez.
Recent additions include: Walter Rodriguez, Richie Gajate Garcia, Samuel Mazur, MB Gordy, Baba Elefante, Daniel Richardson, Rivkah Ross, Randal Fisher, Kyle O’Donnell, and Robby Elfman.
The group has performed as a quintet, sextet, and septet at The Baked Potato, La Vè Lee, Henri’s Backroom Jazz, Caffé Roma, Bocca Fusion Lounge, Corky’s Lounge, World Fest 2011, and Ventura College’s Music Exposed and Faculty Artists Series. The group currently holds a weekly residency at Lucy’s 51 in Toluca Lake, CA.The Group also performs at international music festivals and venues.
The band’s first CD “Of Red and White” was released in 2008 and an upcoming album will be recorded this spring inspired by a mix of authentic Flamenco and Afro-Caribbean traditions.
Past guest artists include: Corry Bell, Jim Leslie, Eric Kertes, Kevin Farrell, Billy Hulting, Doug Shreeve, Jim Xavier, and Mark London Sims.
