Shelly is a singer, songwriter, vocal coach and more, hailing from the bayous of the Northern Rivers in New South Wales, Australia. She was brought up jamming, fed on it from the womb- singing is her natural state of ease. She loves drinking coffee, then teaching people about singing, about harmony, about the musical release in letting go; fuelled by soul music, jazz improv and a folky calm.

The covid universe has redefined music for our culture, and so, musicians are finding new ways to create and be their prolific selves. Shelly created a songwriting circle, to build community and encourage inspiration; she creates a singing lesson podcast welcoming you to partake in your own personal singing lesson and jamming inspired music theory. Shelly loves to serenade at weddings, teach vocal groups, and was sinking her head and heart into teaching choirs as covid hit.

There are a few more projects in the pipeline; stay tuned for a musical adventure into the lives of outback pilots and light aircraft in Australia and a new Recording Studio adventure in late 2020.

She’s followed Radio Venice for a few years and is delighted to be part of projects produced by strong women. The transgression in local gigs to solo male performers and receding budgets is indeed a massive hit to the international musical community, and to represent as a strong female musician and singer alongside an incredible female producer is a duty and a cause worth raising ones voice for.

Shelly will deliver stories and song, in her heartfelt tone on Radio Venice’s 5th Birthday. David Sparrow’s natural penchant for melody and songcraft has permeated the local Los Angeles and greater Maryland music communities for the past fifteen years. A Baltimore native, David relocated to Los Angeles, forming the Americana-rock outfit The Whiskey Saints. After releasing albums West and 24 Hours, The Whiskey Saints would soon evolve into the more straight-ahead rock grooves of Burning Jet Black. David Sparrow’s songwriting contributions like “Tennessee” and “Jessica” would provide melodic and pop sensibilities in the Paul McCartney ethic, while his performances as the lead vocalist compliments the songs written by bandmate and collaborator Dave Bloomfield with a soulful weight in songs like “Under Los Angeles” and “Saved.”

When Burning Jet Black ran its course at the end of 2016, David had built up a substantial wealth of songs while performing solo stints around the west side of L.A. By 2017 production began on his debut solo album titled Beggars and Choosers. Released in March of 2019, Beggars and Choosers represents a capstone of David’s time in Los Angeles. The album swells back and forth between tones of optimism, melancholy, romanticism, and confessional openness.

Since the release of Beggars and Choosers, David has since returned to Maryland to be closer to family. He continues to perform in and around the Maryland area and new singles are currently in the works to be released through 2021.
