El Duelo

EL DUELO is guitarists Rick Boston and Michael Jost. The music of El Duelo is a result of both guitarists’ influences and experiences during their life long guitar playing adventures.

Spanish guitars mixed with Lap Steel & so much more. An unorthodox blend of musical styles keep it interesting and fun. Their original compositions will take you on a journey with some unexpected turns. El Duelo released their self-titled debut record in December 2021. Stay tuned for upcoming live shows.

Kim Jade

Kim Jade is a funky bassist, a vocalist, songwriter and a guitarist. She is also the leader of her funk band, “Kim Jade and The Good Thing”. Kim Jade has lived and worked as a musician in NYC, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington D.C. She is now living in Key West, FL and working full time playing solo gigs on the guitar and also playing several gigs a month with her band. Before coming to L.A. in 2005, Kim was playing band gigs in NY and recording her first solo album with guitarist/producer Nunzio Signore. When living here in Los Angeles, she was the bassist for Michael Jost’s band, Sugar Bitch. They would often play right here on the beach in Venice. She was also working a lot as a sideman bassist here in L.A. After her time in Los Angeles, she was living in D.C. for 8 years where she first formed the Good Thing band and nurtured her love of funk and soul music. While in D.C., Kim recorded an EP of all original funk music that features a full horn section; she was very inspired by P-Funk, and James Brown as well as Betty Davis and Mothers Finest. That band performed in a lot of big venues in D.C. and opened up for a lot of great funk bands. Kim Jade and The Good Thing Band traveled to Key West in 2016 for a month long gig, and Kim never went home. Since her move to Key West in 2016, Kim Jade brought the funk to the Keys with her new Good Thing band and has developed and honed her skills as a guitarist and a looper; creating her sound as a solo artist. She started writing tunes that feature her guitar and vocal layering techniques. Her solo music is less funky (but still soulful) and more melodic, often melancholy in comparison to her bass-driven funk writing. Kim is loving life down in the Keys, but loves to travel and gig all over the country in the summer; and of course, she loves to come visit Venice whenever she can.
