Kevin Gerald

Kevin Gerald is an acoustic singer songwriter who believes that it is the artist’s job to live life, stay observant and report back. Spinning aural sketches of the colorful beings who populate the material plane and beyond, Kevin coined the phrase esoteric indie to describe his music.

Born in Santa Monica, Kevin grew up on the beaches of Southern California and has surfed and played his original music as a solo act and in bands for most of his life. His early influences include the Beatles, Neil Young, Cat Stevens, the Eagles, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello and Bryan Ferry. His songs are of a narrative storytelling nature that keep his listeners engaged and relaxed. His lyrics are rich in sensory descriptions and observations of the human condition.

Desi Ramone

Desi Ramone is a far cry from your typical singer-songwriter act. Standing at 6.2 and decked out in classic western wear, he plays his Gibson J-100 through Marshall Acoustic Amp, unleashing a unique live performance that blends the sounds of Surf, Bo Diddley, Hooker Blues Power Pop and Honky Tonk. He has one purpose – to make you dance. “I only play three styles – Johnny Cash, Johnny Ramone and Johnny B Goode.”

Born just North of Modesto CA, Desi grew up listening to Honky Tonk on forgotten jukeboxes, Mexican Folk and Classic 50’s on am radio then later English New Wave and LA Punk on late night Berkley College Radio. After spending some time in NYC , Desi has called Southern California his home for quite some time now.

As a drummer, Desi worked in various Surf and Rockabilly bands around LA area, before moving over to acoustic guitar, playing rhythm guitar in a variety of Bluegrass and Country bands. Then on 12/31/12 (the anniversary of country music legend Hank Williams death) Desi decides it is time to front his own project, which led to the release of “Waiting”.

“I wanted to honor Hank Williams by playing my songs the way I want to play em” Ramone Says.

Desi has been featured on radio station, KXLU 88.5FM, www.radiovenice.tv and Internet Show, LAartstream.com. He has also appeared live on the Venice Pop-Up Open Mic Night on Wednesday nights. He frequently plays/busk on Abbott Kinney and Windward Circle where he sets up PA, amp, fog machine with stage lighting and a flying saucer looking platform to stand on just to make it official. “I figure more people will see me and remember me doin my act on the street than in a club”. His single “Red and Yellow Roses”, featuring the great Chris Lawrence on pedal steel and was mixed by Marty Rifkin available on www.cdbaby.com.

News Flash! Desi Ramone has just released his latest recording “Rockin’ Robin”. With deep roots in rockabilly, blues and country music, Ramone has reshaped the 1958 Bobby Day classic into a unique sound somewhere between Link Wray and The Cramps with a great rocking beat that makes you want to get up and jump around the room. Recorded at (our very own) Breakwater Studios, Desi surrounded himself with some of the best talent in southern California including producer, Christopher Hazard, engineer Michael Jost and mixed by multi-talented Marty Rifkin. Available on CD Baby … follow the link in the box below.

Lickwid Owsley

The legendary Barry Conley sheds his Alien skin to head up this duo of dynamic dimension. Armed with his famed OutofControl-atron he, first, pulls the sound up from out of the dark pit of the Earth to greet the air with a friendly “Hello!”. Then he whips it into action with both wit and whimsey while his cohort carefully concentrates on calibrating the conjunction of his Jitterbug and Juice Boxes. And then, they’re off: Speeding through space on a fast swirling sound at one moment, then drifting dead-like through the dark depth of the ocean at another, capturing the cacophony of a crowd in a cafeteria, or the slow crushing collision of two creeping icebergs. Flutters. Bleeps. Thumps. Crackles. Whirls. Whines and Whistles. Hisses. Groans and Moans. Sounds that come out of doors that you didn’t even think were there to tickle your ears as well as your bowels.

They use an unrelenting pulse for piercing, then penetrate with the delicate dancing drone of a single modulating tone, then proceed to permeate the collected consciousness with the colorful and confused cadence of a Sci Fi caliope.

Their name is a ‘tip of the hat’ to the grandfather of the tongue-tickled adventure. And their hats are horrendously hip. So take a trip. You’ll find something. But don’t be surprised if that something finds you first.

Darden

DARDEN is a family of four sisters with four powerhouse parts of vocal harmony who blend Country and Americana into a soulful pop performance. Talented singer/songwriter/musicians who play ten instruments collectively, songstresses Selah Darden, Clarah Darden, Havilah Darden and Tabithah Darden have created a distinctive original sound dubbed Alternative Americana.

While their lyrics reflect a lot of their experiences, their vocal style reflect their influences – a hybrid of Folk, Americana, Pop, Country, and Blue Grass—as well as chart toppers including the Zac Brown Band, Jon Mayer, and I’m With Her. Along with new music, they flavor their performances with covers, belting out the best of Carly Simon, Dolly Parton, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Wilson Phillips, James Taylor, and Chicago, among others.

DARDEN continue to perform several times a year to sold-out crowds at The Muckenthaler Cultural Arts Center and The Foxx Theatre, as well as the VH1 Save The Music Holiday Concert. They were headliners at the Orange County Fair in 2017, 2018, 2019 and frequently perform at the Orange County Concerts in the Park, Anaheim House of Blues, Monster Jam at Angel’s Stadium, LA Veggie Festival, Temecula Wine and Chocolate Gala, Google’s Earth Day Celebration, and Google’s Woman’s Day. In February of 2018, after the horrific tragedy at Marjorie Stone Douglas High School, the girls wrote a song and travel to Parkland, Florida, to record the song with local youth and students of MSH for the community of Parkland. While visiting Australia for the 2020 New Year, Darden wrote and record a song for the country to bring hope in their tragic loss. It’s just released recently on Spotify and YouTube, in addition to several other newly recorded songs by Darden.

Matt Moody

I’ve always struggled with this. I’m a songwriter, a singer, a guitar player, a friend, a lover, a dreamer; human. I write what I feel. I write to tell the truth.

I grew up in a suburb outside of Cleveland. A grey town most of the year, but beautiful when the sun hits it. Something that has inevitably made it’s way into my music. Keeping my emotions at bay has always been a challenge for me. In my youth I had struggled with it a great deal. I was a hockey player as a kid and would channel it through that, until I had knowingly heard Nirvana for the first time. That changed everything for me.

I had found the outlet I was looking for and ran with it. Playing in various grunge and rock bands over the years eventually lead me to where I am now, musically.
